To activate a SIM please advise Tech-Binary once you have received delivery. Activation may be delayed if requested to be done outside of normal business hours. Please note that activation will require pre-payment of enough to cover at least the first 2 months of your choice of plan. Pre-payment can then be made in minimum monthly instalments due on or about the 20th of the month preceding the month of service. Upgrading or downgrading a plan can be requested at any time however keep in mind when choosing a date of change that there is no pro-rata credit for the replaced plan and the new plan will be based on the same terms and conditions as when first joining. Any over payment will be applied when payment is due and the remainder will reman in credit until used.
Note that you may use just the SIM in a laptop if your laptop supports this. This is known to work with various laptops without any issues.
All current terms and conditions are summarised on this page. No need to go elsewhere to read the fine print. There are no hidden charges or fees.
The billing cycle is calculated from the 1st of the month. A rebate will be applied to your 3rd month's premium calculated from the day of joining up until the 1st of the following month. Downloads & Uploads are counted towards included Mb. All plans will be stopped if they reach 6000Mb in any calendar month accept the Wireless 6Gb plan which will be stopped at 7000Mb. Excess data charges will be applied for all usage above the included Mb that applies to your plan.
Pricing is for both business and non-business accounts and the Residential Grade Optus Network is used when calculating the network coverage and expected service quality. SIM's remain the property of Optus but the end user is responsible for them. Tech-Binary is NOT Optus. User support enquiries coming in via Optus Support will terminate your service immediately. A substantial rejoin fee will apply.
Maximum download speeds on 3G/HSPDA networks are up to 3.6 Mbps. Typical speeds are between 500kbps and 1.5Mbps or lower. Tech-Binary does not guarantee that dropouts or packet loss will not occur. For example a dropout for several seconds will occur between 11.30pm & midnight every day for accounting purposes. The 3G/HSPDA Network does not have the same coverage area as the GSM Network. Both the 3G/HSPDA and the GSM network provide broadband which covers 80%+ of the population. SIM's cannot be returned based on coverage. An on-site inspection can be arranged if unsure and you live in Victoria. Other states should ask for support before purchasing. In areas of low reception Tech-Binary can arrange installation of an additional external antenna to aid reception. Pricing on inspection.
An important message about this wireless technology. It's a shared service with others on the Optus Wireless Broadband Network. Speed can vary depending on current traffic, number of users and many other factors. Latency, jitter and packet loss make it unsuitable for voice or video streaming. P2P is expressly prohibited due to the constant low volumes of traffic this generates and the adverse affect it has on reliable delivery to everyone else. P2P includes file sharing or continuous automated file transfer or other computer-to-computer applications, automated programs and bandwidth throttling. Wireless is specifically designed for when out of the office or on the move. It also caters for those preferring a wireless broadband or where ADSL is not available. But unlike ADSL which we prefer to think of as always enabled, wireless is better suited to dial on demand, not for a fixed broadband replacement. It is recommended you turn the service off when not in use to avoid excess fees should your computer become infected with a virus or spyware. It is also recommended you have Tech-Binary service your PC on a regular basis to make sure security is still in place and to remove any infections missed by your virus and spyware scanners. It is your responsibility to keep track of your usage. Keep in mind that the program you use to connect to the service only aggregates usage for the PC it is installed on. If you use the service on multiple computers you should add the usage, both uploads and downloads, for every PC used. Until Tech-Binary has implemented an online usage meter, you are welcome to ring support and ask for the current estimated usage for your service.
This service is barred from International Roaming and any attempt to switch over to Mobile Voice services using this SIM in any device is not possible.
